Preview: Assassin’s Creed 2

Assassin’s Creed 2 is a game that just keeps giving.  For anyone who has played the first game there is no doubt that they are already drooling over the upcoming game.  This game has been immensely updated with new features such as using water as cover, new weapons, among more covered in this preview.

Assassin’s Creed 2 takes place 285 years after the first game in 1476 in the Italian Renaissance.  The new character Ezio is another descendant of Desmond and Altair; he is also a nobleman from Florence and is after revenge for his family who was betrayed.  This game is much like the first one you will be going between some major cities such as Florence, Venice; you can run around in the Tuscan countryside, as well as Rome. Another really interesting part about the world of this game is that they have taken real places and landmarks and added them into the game like the following St Mark’s Basilica, the Grand Canal, the Little Canal, and the Rialto Bridge.

This game is going to have cut scenes with real actors and CGI some will be live and interactive as others will not.  For an example of this you can check out the game video on Assassin’s Creed website.  The graphics in this game are amazing these games are all simply beautiful and enthralling and are always pleasing to the eyes.  From the amazing scenery and expansive world down to the street full of people this game will constantly surprise the players.

Assassin’s Creed 2 is going to offer many new actions and interactions to this game.  There is also going to be more missions on the side as well and they are getting rid of the eavesdropping and pick pocketing missions for the story.  There is also the flag again but this time if the player collects the flags they get unlockables in the game which are supposed to be worth finding them.  There is a money system to buy things like inventions from da Vinci and to bribe people.  There is also a notoriety system where as you do more missions and kill more people guards notice you and people do to.

They have upgraded the fighting and parkour systems adding many new moves as well as variety.  Ezio is much more equipped than his predecessor he has two hidden wrist blades which can be used to dispatch two enemies simultaneously.  He also has other weapons and gadgets at his disposal such as an axe, a hammer, a mace, a spear, different sword types, and a spear axe.  While fighting you can use enemies weapons against them which adds to the fighting system.  You can swim in this game which adds to your stealth and mobility throughout the game, as well as not worrying about falling in the water and dying.  There is also the option to use such things as the hang glider and boats to move around parts of the world as well so it is not just walking and running everywhere.

There are some historical figures in this game who might play a rather big role in the game including Machiavelli, Caterina Sofrza, Lorenzo de Medici, and da Vinci of course.  Some of the devices that Ezio uses are actual machines that da Vinci designed like the hang glider.

Each enemy class has their own attributes and unique ways of acting along with aggression levels.  There are elite soldiers, runners who chase after you (shown above), archers, heavy soldiers who wield axes and heady weapons, and some enemies are smart enough to search hiding spots like the hay wagons with their halberds and stuff like that.

So enemies are a lot more complex in this game it seems so this will add to the variety and difficulty of this game. Which is really nice to see because the last game got kind of monotonous with the enemies doing the same thing and there were only so many attacks from Altair, there is supposed to be a lot more execution moves for Ezio.

So as of right now this game looks amazing and I can’t wait until it comes out. It looks like I might be going to the plasma bank to make some money to get it. From the information that I have found out it looks like this game is going to blow the first one out of the water. I can’t wait to see what else they are going to add to the game that they haven’t told us yet.

This game is scheduled to release the 17^th of November so keep it on your list of things to look forward to.  This game looks nothing short of amazing.
