Review: Sacred 2: Fallen Angel

Review: Sacred 2: Fallen Angel

For all of you Diablo and Elder Scrolls lovers, there is another game that you can play to pass the time until Diablo III comes out this fall and that game is Sacred 2: Fallen Angel.  Sacred 2 is a massive game with around 600 quests in the game; a level cap at level 200; gives the option to choose a shadow or light campaign; with hundreds of hours of game play.  This game is easily addicting with lots of hack and slash play as well as spell casters for those magic lovers out there.

This game has quite a few similarities to Diablo II with new quirks of its own.  The skill tree idea kind of shows its face in this game as shown in the picture below.  How this works in this game is instead of getting a skill in order to unlock the next level there are skills in different specialty areas there are three per character.  These specialties have five skills each in order to level these the player has to find runes each run counts as a level to these skills.  Other than just running through the game trying to find the correct runes the player can get runes from enemies and take them to a Runemaster who can change them into runes you need in exchange for that rune or up to three others to reduce the costs.  This is a highly useful tool in gaining levels.  There is also the option to modify your skills with three affects that’s what the diamond slots in the picture represent whether it be more damage or another affect to the skill.

There are six character classes there is the Seraphim which are agile fighters that are deadly in their arts; the shadow warrior who is a resurrected soldier who is mainly a hack and slack character who can summon creatures of the death to help him; a High Elf is a massive magic user which casts powerful magic exterminating their enemies (my personal favorite); the Dryad which are good with bows and things of that nature among other weapons they are a part of nature and a kin to the elves; the Inquisitor which is an evil only character who specializes in melee among some dark art spells; lastly is the Temple Guardian who is a robot that uses energy weapons and melee attacks.  For a better look at the characters and the story behind them visit http://www.sacred2.com/en/the-game.html.

The weapons for Sacred 2 do not come in short supply.  There is a massive amount of weapons in this game that will completely surprise you. The items system in this game is very convenient in the game it is possible to tell the system to pick up everything or something only of a certain level of value in star levels 0 to 4 star items.  Items are imbue able it is possible to slot items and put traits in them with rings, and crystals, among other things.  Items are still level based and some have skills that can only be unlocked through having the proper skills learned such as “armor lore or shield lore”.  There are armor sets like in Diablo as well.  Armor like weapons are in no short supply and are imbue able as well.  There is also the option to buy mounts in this game it is possible to buy horses and for each character there is a unique mount which you can cast spells from and such. (Below is pictured the Dryad’s unique mount.)

This game is a blast to play, alone or with friends online or Co-Op.  In this game it is possible to play one person on live and one person off on the same Xbox while having a friend from offline play with you.  It is possible to have up to four people in one game.  There is the player vs. player option in this game as well.  It is a lot of fun to run around with your friends and wreak havoc on countless enemies and go quest running.  Another nice thing is that you do not have to do anything with your friends you both can be playing the same game and do whatever you want.  This is definitely a game worth getting especially if you were a fan of the Diablo or Elder Scrolls series.

There are a few things about this game that are just a little irritating.  The main one is that there are not very many waypoints in this game, there could be a lot more waypoints to make it fast in traveling places but then again this makes you actually trek across the world encountering more enemies and the great graphics schemes.  The graphics for this game are rather remarkable for the sheer size of this game.  The game generally runs very smooth unless there is a massive magic battle with over 30 enemies on one screen.  Another thing the character customization in the beginning you can’t change sexes, and there is limited alterations in hairstyles and stuff like that, but that is not really all that important.

Over all this is a fantastic game worth any RPG fans time.  I seriously recommend this game for any fan of Diablo or Elder Scrolls because this game truly is a mix of the two games it has the massive world like Elder Scrolls and the replay value of Diablo.
