Palm Pre vs. iPhone 3GS – Winner is?

I just want to say I’m tired of all this Palm Pre crap.  I know it’s the ‘iPhone killer’ but they forgot to tell you which iPhone it was killing.  The 1^st Gen? Maybe the 3G but it sure as hell wasn’t the 3G S.  I will say I saw this coming, when the Pre was released the only comparison you could find on the net was against the iPhone 3G.  I can understand Palm wanted the comparison. It made the phone look better. To some degree it worked because everyone forgot that the iPhone 3G was a YEAR OLD!  You don’t compare items that are a year apart, at least not in the technology world.  I hope Palm would be able to beat up on an iPhone that had been out for a year, that’s like me picking a fight with a 5 year old.

Now last week our friends over at Anandtech finally opened everyone’s eyes and did a web browser speed test between the iPhone 3G, iPhone 3G S, Palm Pre and the G1.  Surprisingly the iPhone 3GS won. Well I wasn’t surprised but apparently everyone else was.  The result showed that the 3GS was 21% faster than the Pre, over 122% faster than the 3G and well they didn’t even calculate the G1 since the 3G blew the crap out it. If that wasn’t enough to slap you back into reality Anandtech did it again. But this time they compared load times for comparable applications on each device. The applications were Web Browsers, Dialers, Google Maps, Camera and Email. And the results are very surprising.  Not only did the 3GS smoke the Palm Pre so did the 3G.

I think we found our answer. The Palm Pre is the 1^st Gen iPhone killer….maybe I can’t find any test to back that up.
