Well it has been a couple of months now since I first got my 32GB Patriot Xporter XT flash drive and thus far it has been nothing but good news!
I began looking for a larger flash drive as my old 2GB on was just not cutting it anymore. I wanted something durable that would last and not break easily from being used a lot. Fisrt, I began looking at the Corsair’s Flash Voyager line as they come in a runnerized casing and look to be fairly durable. I was suprised to read though that with the larger capacity Flash Voyager drivers (seemed to mostly be 16GB+) that there were mounds and mounds of negative reviews everywhere I looked all saying that the data transfer on the large drives was miserably slow. So I decided to find something else.
That was when I discovered the Partiot Xporter XT series flash drives. They too have a rubberized skin making them hit the marks I was looking for with durability and the reviews were, for the most part, all positive. The data transfer speeds on this thing are amazing. They come with a lanyard which is great, but I was slightly worried about 2 things.
First of all, due to the rubberized casing, the lanyard hooks on to a rubber loop on the end of the flash drive. I was a little worried that if pulled enough, it would break and I would have no way to connect a lanyard. I will say that after using the drive for a couple of months this is not an issue. I have had no problems with this what so ever.
Secondly, I was worried that the rubber cap would not stay on tightly and that I might loose it while carrying it around etc (like I seem to have accomplished with most of my flash drives). So far so good. I use the drive daily and the cap still stays on as snug as the day I bought it. Only time I have lost the cap is when it gets moved around in the mess on my desk or I have one of those moments where I can’t remember where I sat it (usually right in front of my face… figures).
Overall, I would highly recommend the Patriot Xporter XT flash drive series. Great design, data transfer speeds, large capacity, and durability are a must when it comes to flash drives. The 32GB drive can be found for between $45-75 dollars at most online retailers depending on rebates etc. If you are in the market for a new flash drive, I strongly urge you to check them out!
